Five days again, the first lady, Remi Tinubu of the Federal Republic of Nigeria sparked outrage from Nigerians after she made a shocking comment in a live TV.

Remi who had attended the second quarter meeting of the 'Renewed Hope Initiative' on Wednesday, 24th June with wives of several state governors at the state house in Abuja made the comment while responding to some news correspondents that selling akara, roasted corn and kuli kuli did not cost much for Nigerian women to venture into as a small scale business.

But instead of her comment to actually bring hope and relieve to Nigerians, it awakened displeasure in some Nigerians who criticize her for suggesting that they should go into Petty trading instead of the government creating job opportunities, lowering inflation and improving living standards of Nigerians due to the economic challenges.

This has led many Nigerians both in diaspora to criticize Remi's comment by posting several images of themselves selling akara, corn and kuli kuli just to express their displeasure.

Some said that if the First lady was looking for employment for Nigerians, particularly, the women, it didn't have to be a trade that cannot withstand the current economic situation in the country.

The truth is not many can come out to say they were able to make a lot to the point were they are able to take care of their families and relatives through selling of akara and this is what is making some Nigerian agitated.

Looking at the present economy were the price of food, housing and transportation is high and then lack of proper electricity, road and water at the centre of this comment goes to say that this government have misplaced priority.

In another video, Remi acknowledged Nigerians criticism, but then she went on to say that she is not only suggesting selling of akara, corn and kuli kuli, but also tomatoes, vegetable, peppers and others. At this point, she revealed that the sum of hundred million has been disbursed to 2,000 women at the rate of 50,000 naira per woman.

Now, how can 50,000 naira covered up daily expenses when it's not even up to the minimum wages, neither is it up to the cost of what is needed to start the akara business. Is this not a clear indication that this government doesn't have a clear vision for the country or what they wants this country to be.

Nigerians should be looking at a scalable business and skill that will help improve their intellectual capacity, expand and also help them match the present economy. The world has evolved and there are certain things one should not be taking casually.

Couple with the fact that the country is still battling insecurity, kidnapping, banditry and terrorism, it is unfair to say that some Nigeria women are lazy in bid to project accountability, responsibility and fairness because as far as Nigerians are concerned, none of these is present.

Recalled the first lady bought brand new cars worth millions for naira for women leaders of the APC, how then can she suggest selling of akara to the Nigerian women. Is it that the women she bought cars for and the ones she is suggesting selling of akara are different from each other. This is the highest form of hypocrisy.

This comment has not just spark outrage all over the social media and the nation at large,  but it has made many to throw sarcasm in several forms like picturing themselves selling akara, corn and kuli kuli.
